Susan Feldsted Halman, Partner
Susan Halman has been advising and representing national and regional insurers regarding coverage issues for over 20 years. She handles matters involving complex and high exposure claims under standard form, ISO-form and manuscript insurance contracts, including primary, umbrella, excess and surplus lines. She provides strategic evaluation and management of complex claims under professional liability and general liability insurance policies.
She has extensive experience drafting insurance policy forms and endorsements, revises policy language to suit the insurer’s intended assumption of risk or change in underwriting guidelines, and provides advice on underwriting strategies.
Ms. Halman's trial and appellate experience extends throughout the state and federal courts in California. She has briefed and argued before the courts of appeal numerous matters arising from successful dispositive motions. Her extensive experience in analyzing policy language enhances her ability to offer clients a vigorous and persuasive representation in court. She also has significant experience representing insurers in complex environmental coverage claims and litigation, and in defending insurance professionals against claims of malpractice.
